A Lap of Thunderhill in my Mitsubishi Evo IX RS

A clip showing a lap of Thunderhill Raceway Park in my 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX RS tarmac rally car. The lap time is not blazingly fast for Thunderhill (a low 2:04), but quick nonetheless, and a neat angle to see the track from.

About the car: the WORKS/Evolved Performance Evo IX RS is built for the Targa Newfoundland rally and other tarmac rally events. This clip shows a shakedown event used for testing and tuning the car.

The clip was taken using a Motorsports Hero camera mounted on my bumper.

A 2:04 on the old pavement -- even with the bypass -- is pretty good. But you could make up a couple of seconds just by changing your line (and speed) through turns 8 and 9.

The line is okay for the car -- the Evo likes a different line than any other car I've raced before. There's probably more speed in T8 with a little more speed on entry, but I'm not used to all the extra runoff. I think alot of the time is being lost in understeer through the long sweepers, like T2/T3 and carrying enough speed through T14/T15 (driver issues). I think the car should be a couple of seconds a lap faster in that set-up. It will be A LOT faster this year due to new motor and tires.
