http://www.jetboil.com and http://www.maxpedition.com are a great combo for a day hike. Plate/bowls by http://www.fozzils.com. The JetBoil Personal Cooking System (PCS) can heat water for coffee, tea, cocoa or make a dehydrated meal (yum!). It fits comfortably in the 12x5 bottle holder with extra kit and even fits (very snuuuuugly) in the 10x4. I forgot to show that. Also show ho the Active Shooter Bag is one of the best day bags with its great storage capacity both inside as well as molle options for the outside of the pack. Oh yeah, JetBoil doesn't make those plates, http://www.fozzils.com does.

  • Great video! Definitely got me thinking about those Maxpedition packs.. Quick question though, does the Jetboil fit inside the 10 x 4?

  • @hillynath69 Many thx, Nathan. It does fit in the 10x4, snugly. Not a smidgeon of wiggly room for anything else but a perfect fit nonetheless.

  • WOW, you sold me on the 12x5, the plates, utensils, and the jetboil flash. I love traveling in the winter and living out of my truck. Every night is a tailgate party. I don't like eating in restaurants. Oh and I bet you could put an extra canister in the bottom instead of the cup if you like. Or maybe even on the top. Just a thought. Thanks for the excellent video.

  • @snnnoopy I don't have it in front of me but I do believe you can. Yes, this kit is very handy dandy. I know I always talk about making coffee in it (which I do too often lol) but heating water for freeze dried meals is very workable. Can also cook in it too, of course. Check out some of the backpacking sites on making your own stuff like that. They are cheaper to make than the Mountain House etc stuff and tastier to one's liking. Thx for the comments, Snoopy!

  • @V4Venger +1. I'd write it upside down too but don't know how.... ;-) CountyComm is a go-to for me too. I like alot of their stuff!

  • Great vid Roz!

  • Thanks for the Vid! You answered the questions I could not find anyplace else.

  • Outstanding video as always Roz! Just got myself a Sitka which I use with a Proteus for the perfect over-nighter light trail system. LOVE IT !!! My question is which bottle holder will fit best on the PALS side of the Sitka? I'd really like to be able to carry my Jetboil on the side of my pack. Thanks for all the great reviews!!!

  • Thanks so much! I just picked up the 12 x 5 and was specifically looking for a cooking system to fit inside. I guessed that the Flash would fit, but you have confirmed it. Thanks!!

  • @Xx256xx1 That is pretty brilliant! Start frozen and have a decently cool drink way into the hike. And the lightweight pkg to haul out. Thx for the tip, Harry!

  • @darthwelt Thx so much, Darth! Thx for watching. Sure is appreciated! -Roz

  • @richarddempster Thx so much, Richard! Enjoy your new kit. I keep mine in my car for those times when I have opportunity to break it out. Fun!

  • @texagman haha Great story!! I never saw it spelled out like that, but you're right! I can't say "water" and I can't say "drawer". They both belie me. ;-)

  • @felix161

It is a bit much. I found one for about $35 on amazon. I love it. Its awesome. I carry my GNC protein shake bottle in it every day. Stays very cold. I wish it was cheaper but it is a great product.

  • 42.99 hell 20 more dollars i could have bought another jetboil... thats insane price. ill find a cheaper carry pouch.

  • RoscoeBa ... you have to have some New Jersey heritage. My ex is from NJ and the first time I heard 'dad' ask me for a glass of "Wooder" I said ... wait, what? Is that like some kind of beer? I got a quick, sharp jab to the ribs and was informed he was asking for water, and the followup comment was that since I'm a Texan I'm the last person to give anyone crap about how to pronounce things. To which I STFU and got dear ol' dad a glass of Brazos county's finest tap :)

  • just been on the net and brought both the 12 x 5 and the jetboil keep up the good work

  • Great review!

  • We get the fruit and water in silver foil pouch

With a straw..freeze and use to cool stuff and

Have drinks and less weight to Haul back

And fold over to reduce bulk !(empty)

Will not get stale for long storage!

    Wal-mart..12?to a box !

  • Leave your coffee grinds in the bush, they are great fertilizer, helps the trees grow.

  • Pretty neat ideas for using the JetBoil. Thanks for making this video.

  • Wow you like coffie

  • you shouldnt use any plastic for holding water, get urself a stainless steel canteen, you can keep it clean and it wont leach.
