'Distant Hill' written by Chaso/Glastonbury (see further down for lyrics), Glastonbury was Tom Jones' first ever manager in Wales. This song is about a soldier going to war and leaving his loved one behind and he is not sure if he will see her again. Many years ago this song was published and released as a 'B' side. Would be great if someone in the music business could help get this song re-recorded by an established artist and released with some profits going to war charities. Lyrics below:
On a hill, that distant hill
When night descends and all the world is still
I know she sits there at her window sill
And waits for me to return and all her dreams fulfill
But I may never see her face again
For all around me there are fighting men
And to their homes will return
Five out of every ten
In a year, one lonely year
A love may fade or even disappear
Not so with ours, there can be no such fear
For time and distance can only serve to bring us near
What am I doing here, why should I kill
Of this confusion I have had my fill
I should be home with my love
There on that distant hill
That distant hill

I think the vocalist on this is a guy called James Quest. Ray Glastonbury was his manager too and JQ recorded it as a b side for his single Ecstacy

@lostsoul3050 Well done - I just asked my Dad (who wrote the music to 'Distant Hill') and yes you are correct that the singer is James Quest and this song was the 'B' side to James' single Ecstacy. We were just wondering how did you know this as not many people would know that?
