Gillan/Tormé at their screaming best

I made the middle section psychedelic to give it a Jim(m)i Page/Hendrix feel

In fact: with Bernie Tormé and also John McCoy, 'Gillan' was a semi-punk band, and their shows even attracted some punkers at the time, and not only hard-rock fans. http://www.punk77.co.uk/groups/bernietorme.htm

Ian sang the wrong words on this version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdbBzspys00
( thanks, stargazer2080!)

so I got it right with this one.

Mr. Universe (Gillan/Towns) - 6:12

Are you god are you man do you live in fear
Are we trash in your can a bubble in your beer
I just need some information
Tell me what's my destination

If we run will we fall mr. Universe
Climb your hill climb your wall mr. Universe
A million years of procreating
Now i'm here don't keep me waiting

Maybe we're going somewhere
If so we can find the end
Everyone's getting nowhere
But not me you'd better understand

Is the wall made of brick what can lay behind
Is the brick very thick is it in my mind
Universe is cruel deception
Freedom is a contradiction

Is your smile just a smile or is it just a trick
To make me walk another mile i must be so thick
I'm going where i've set my eyes on
Way behind that blue horizon.

  • Don't fuck around with perfection..delete this video at once or I'll Rip Your Spine Out.

    Signed.

    I Gillan.

  • In his autobiography, Gillan acknowledges that he often changes the lyrics in a song (one too many for the road may be part of cause, of course.) But then the band was very creative and adlibbed to live audiences, too. Esp. Blackmore, Lord, and Paice communicating with hand and head signals. One of the things that made them so good! Tight-knit group. Miss Blackmore (though Morse great) and Lord. BTW, believe Ian often has to have crib sheet when they sing with orchestras.

  • Don't like the mix, better to have just the studio or the live version, not both!

  • BUT NOT ME! YOU BETTER UNDERSTAND!!!

  • MMMMMMMMBA!!!

  • not there - they didn't exist as a company at that point. he used to use his stratocasters before the vintage endorsement.

  • Secret Of The Dance...What a kick in that song..especially on the 1978 japan tv show video
