For a 96 that is a hell of a clean bike. I have a 95 which is nowhere near as clean.
Engine looks fairly different from the 250's I've seen, I didn't know they had cylinder head covers.

Hang on, are you sure that's not a replica engine? There's no way a '96 Rebel engine.

Heya Steve, yep...that is definitely the original '96 Engine on the Aussie Honda Rebel. I think there are some differences between the US and AUS versions as someone pointed out the you guys have just one carby? The Aussie version has twin carbies going into one airbox. I think there are a couple of other differences too. Also, I think were the one asking about the Whitewall I painted on? The way I got a good circle was actually lucky because the tyre had a ridge. nice job.was wondering where you got the mufflers from?

Hey diverben,
You should check out the latest vid of the 250 'Bobber' project....it's almost complete, well it's on the road again at least.
As for the mufflers, they are 'Shorty 12 inch Mufflers' I bought via ebay, I think the brand is EMGO, but just do a search for "Shorty 12 inch Mufflers" and you should dinf them.
Cheers,

Gday from a fellow Aussie 250 rider. Good start to the project, hope it turns out well for you mate.
Just run open headers (I do), The sound is great too great! A word of wisdom, side mount lights/plates breach ADR's as far as I know.
I realize that most modifications breach the rules but a side light is really obvious to get pulled over for.
My bike is almost complete, chopped out sr250 hehe. I cop a bit of flak for riding 250, but them L plates sure do suck hey buddy.....

Hey there, thanks for the comments. No open headers for me, after all it's the wife's bike and it needs to be a little quite at least.
As for the side mount plate, I haven't come across anything myself about being illegal, all I know is that your tailight has to be a certain height from the ground and so mine should be fine. She'll keep riding until some cop tells me otherwise.
Cheers,
Rone
