Those Gold Dots look like baby octopuss in that gel! A little under but thats the expansion. I bet a lower velocity round with LESS EXPAVSIVE NOSE MIGHT GO LONGER.

So far in my 10mm testing, 155 gr and lighter bullets usually fail to meet 12" and 165 gr and heavier bullets usually make the minimum penetration standard. Take a look at my 165 gr Gold Dot test: FR14jBsZpWk

@georgia bowhunter 165 gr bullets have done well too but I wouldn't recommend for bear defense.

True, but they also failed to meet minimum penetration requirements by a long shot.

I've read that most of the energy in rounds made faster go to boosting the TSC rather than the PCC. Still, some structures of the body like the liver are susceptible to TSC damage, right?

    That's how I understand it.

It's possible that TSC is a greater factor with magnum handgun rounds and although the 10mm isn't called a magnum, it delivers energy roughly consistent with .357 mag. I'm not going to bet on TSC, though.

Good test, it goes to show that ANY pistol caliber can over or under penetrate depending on the bullet design and at what velocity it is loaded at. I'll stick with my 180 grain or higher 10mm.
