101 segment VF Display

This is the supplied demo code running on a 44pin PIC demo board. The code does not use any special feature of the 16F887 so should run on any 16 bit PIC (e.e. 16FXXX or 12Fxxx)

The demo loops though some of the many different mode available:
Coventional bar, Inverted Bar, Dot and combined Dot and Bar modes

  • Where can you get the FG202SA2 reasonable?

  • @THEtechknight

I have some listed on ebay ATM

  • @wktodd I tried searching for FG202SA2, and nothing came up.

  • @THEtechknight

Search VFD bargraph. I have modules and kits. if you want just the vfd (glass) I can list them separately for you.

  • @wktodd Ya i found it, thanks bro. I might get a kit.... not too sure yet, I havent decided.

If i had more funding, i would buy a bunch of these glass VFDs to build a matrix of them to make a spectrum analyzer. but yea... funds are tight these days. nice thought though.... maybe someday.

  • @THEtechknight

I think you'd be better off using a dot-matrix display for a spectrum analyser. It would be more compact (albeit slightly harder to drive).

These dual bar displays are idea for dual channel level monitoring (i.e. L+Ror level +phase etc.) .

  • @wktodd Yea, if you like originality, albeit slightly more compact, I would prefer making it "larger" and thus using something similar as what you have, even though it isnt original/practical, it still would be fun.

  • Hi Retrorepair

The display shown is a Noritake Itron FG202SA2 Analogue Bar Display, the only type I have available.

    Each blue/green segment is 3mm wide on a 1mm spacing , bars are spaced 5mm apart. The overall dimensions of the glass are:30mm x 132mm x 8mm. leads are 13mm long ( 0.1" spacing).

For other types, try Noritake Itron online (utube won't let me post a link)

    Regards Bill

  • Do you know of a similar VFD display which would be about 34 segments long? Maybe two 17 segment units? Might be a few out either way but that looks to be almost the exact spacing and size I need. Oh, single line, not dual. Any help would be appreciated!
