Firefly 'Trash' Episode Riff Tutorial

This is the riff that is played over the 'bin reprogramming'section of the episode "Trash" of the show Firefly. I use the D and E chords, but I'm pretty sure the guitar they use is tuned down to D (instead of E--standard tuning).

Errata:
I note in the video that tuning your guitar down a step make the D chord into an E chord--this is incorrect (I was thinking the reverse (tuning it up a step). If you tune down, the D chord shape will become a C chord.

That's a good question--I think the soundtrack just has material from the aired episodes, but I'm not entirely sure. I would also like to find the audio for it.

Ever notice the riff at the start of the first 2 episodes (Serenity & train job)? Serenity- played when they get the goods and they fly away from dortmunder. Train Job- when Wash appears in the firefly in front of the bar and threatens to "blow a new crater in this little moon"

It's a quick simple riff but I always enjoy hearing it
