The structural damage reducing gravity IS illogical, and indeed, in real life, the moon base wouldn't have artificial gravity, seeing as that's unfeasible. Instead, it would have Moon gravity, which is weaker than Earth gravity. So the game would be a lot easier if it followed reality in that way.
