2007 character modeling reel

Base mesh was done in Xsi and displacement was made with mudbox. I had the characters with uv layout, but I wanted to concentrate on my modeling skills.

  • Amazing how similar some Marvel and DC characters are I was going to say that looked just like Mojo from the X-Men (at least as I remember). But it's ... Slog? Who's Slog?

    lol, it was supposed to be Mojo, but at the time I couldn't model hard surfaces so I just did the floating chair thing. I mention it at the end.

  • Really good work, I'm more a Maya/Zbrush artist, but it's amazing what you've done with Xsi/mudbox ;)

  • good luck. I went to a school 5 yrs ago. but learned pretty much nothing. So I consider myself self taught...hence he crappy rendering lol.

  • Entirely too slow. I lost interest about 10 seconds into the Batman and tried to fast forward through the reel. You've got to knock off some of that time. We don't need to see each model for 30+ seconds. Keep it moving so you don't lose the audience's interest.

    The modeling and topology look great, but the composition of the reel needs work. Keep it up!

  • Nice models! But only one notice.For game design the count of polygons is too much and for production(film et. cetera) not enough detalization.

  • The reel itself was horrible; You'd get a job if you presented yourself way more... Elusive.

    Say, model a scene and place batman in it. Other than that, it was ok, very good modelling and anatomy but I must admit I can't see them in a scene considering the edge loops were... Oh well. Considering they are lowpoly (under 100k) I guess they are game entitled and will work fine, hopefully the mesh is normal map and optimized, if it's a displacement map.. Then you probably know something I don't!
