@jfpeditor1 I'm callin bullshit on that. JFP? Time? No need to compare those two. There are ways to be cool and hip and this wasn't one of them. Maybe y'all should ask Peaches what she thinks? She seems like she's drunk y'alls purple drank.
The Most Intriguing category is like Time's "Person of the Year"--it includes people in the news for negative reasons, such as criminals and the then-mayor of Jackson, Frank Melton, who Donna Ladd wrote was "the worst mayor in America" in Reason magazine. Saying "Most intriguing" is an honor for the recipients is misinformed at best, dishonest at worst.
There is false information posted in the comments above. Robbie Bell has never been honored in a Best of Jackson celebration (which is an reader survey). She was named "Most Intriguing" because she was a huge newsmaker that year after her son's heinous murder of his girlfriend, a case the JFP covered in great depth, including revealing police documents of the first time he tried to kill her, and how his mother seemed to help convince her to drop charges.
Before that Robbie was in the house with her coked up son and Heather as she lay in his room bleeding to death and taking her last breaths of life.
Instead of calling an ambulance or the police she called her high dollar attorneys and judges to determine how to get her poor son out of trouble.
DA Jim Hood dropped charges against Robbie, didnt seek death penalty against George and Jackson Free Press honored Robbie in their Best Of Jackson Celebration in 2007.
The Jackson Free Press decided to go ahead and name Robbie Bell as the 2007 Most Intriguing Woman of 2007—this comes after JFP founder Donna Ladd was named Mississippis Most Influential Author the previous year in 2006.
You may remember Bell her son, George, beat his girlfriend 27-year-old Heather Spencer to death on Sept. 11 of all dates and held police in a three hour standoff in a Mercedes Benz on Northside Drive while Robbie sat in the car with him.

And on matters of reconciliation
