On March 13th, 2009, teachers across the state of California were issued a pink slip, something which was to tell them that they would no longer be working next year in their district as one. The morning of that day, something clicked in my that made me want to take it upon myself and get the word out to people. On the corner of Mowry and Cedar, very close to my school at Newark Memorial High, this rally took place, and it was really an amazing feeling to be a part of that. I took my camera around and did something for the teachers, because really, you wouldn't be there, reading this right now if it wasn't for a teacher, would you?
Every part of this clip was filmed IN A SINGLE DAY. Oh my damn. Now, I'm not much of a video editor as my friend's are in school and my class, but I think I did okay for a first official segment.
I'd like to specifically thank one of the teachers at NMHS, Dana Ratto (the first speaker), who really set the rally in motion. For some reason, you pop up everywhere at school lately, whether in conversation or reality, lol.
By the way, I should credit the music I used here, since they're not mine in any way:

Escape from the City - by Crush 40
Pink Friday Rally NMHS Newark Memorial High School California ca teachers students education public protest budget cuts teenagers children information
Wow, I didn't realize there were video recordings of Pink Friday on YT until a friend recently told me about it. Nicely done!
And it was fun standing on a shopping cart. =P
