Rodney Whitaker swinging so hard it's ridiculous......he truly brought the "hump" back to jazz bass playing!!!!!!

My Shining Hour sax solo is an alto solo. Gary Bartz is the soloist on that. He has a tendency to approach alto as if it were a tenor. But you're right just an incredible album with lots of great energy.

This is one of my favorite all time albums!Surely some nostalgia does play a part in that opinion. This recording is very hard to get your hands on it but If you can its well worth it. Rodney Whitaker gives two of the best bass solo's Ive ever heard and Ron Blake sets this live set ablaze with his solo on the last track "My Shining Hour". This was the third jazz album I ever purchased about 10 years ago. I am indebtted to these artist who made me into the jazz lover I am today.
