Each year, thousands of engaged young people from around the world travel to the United States, eager to learn about American life and share perspectives from their own countries. Families who welcome these exchange students into their homes and hearts not only enrich the life of an exceptional young person, they help build people-to-people connections that span the globe and last a lifetime. Host families are essential to the success of international exchange programs. Become a host family: http://exchanges.state.gov/hosting/index.html.

  • Great Message. I was an exchange student 22 years ago to France with Youth For Understanding. This experience has led me to a lifelong commitment to YFU and high school exchange. It is truly an experience of a lifetime and I encourage every family to share their homes and make a difference not only in their own family's lifves but in that of an international teenager as well. yfuusa.org

  • It's really nice of her to make this video.

But this video reminds me the homeland security officer at the SFO. I said "yep" to his question, and he asked me if I learned to show repect back in Korea. He was very hateful to me. He said I had to say "yes" but it's common mistake from sb who doesn't speak english as first language. It was very first impression of USA to me. He didn't necessarily have to be hateful to do his job. Don't get me wrong. I know there are many good people out there.

  • @exchangesvideo Hillary is spot on...I was a YFU exchange student in Switzerland back in 1985...Twenty seven years later, we're very close...my host sister is my daughter's god-mother...plus, they taught me how to ski in the Alps...Hillary rocks it.

  • @lostalex77 You wouldn't go "Did you ever learn how to show respect back in Korea?" when you teach "manners".

  • @wulfbooy maybe because you are a terrorist, that's the only one who should be scared of her.

  • @kaliuv It's not hateful to teach you manners.

  • Does anybody know if all Passport Offices are at the Postal Office? Why is it at the Post Office and not at a Pass Port Department inside a Proper Building with Investigators.

    A. Why is it US Department of State when it's International.

    B. Are All International Flights Checked (Pass Book) .

    C. Are all documented on Computer. The System must show 'entry' and 'leaving'.

    D. Is there an International Criminal Records (Warrant) System?

  • I support her message, but she looks like she's about to pull out a knife and stab the viewer. XD

  • I have been a foreign exchange student through CHI and had a great time but some people just shouldn't even concider hosting students.

  • I'd love to speak to anyone about our family's personal experience hosting students from other countries. We have "sons" and "daughters" from Spain, France, Germany, Italy, China, Hong Kong, Turkey, Brazil, and Norway. My husband and I believe in it and love it so much we now work with Education, Travel and Culture as student managers. We still have a number of awesome students waiting for homes so please get in touch if you have questions or would like to learn more!! nwhitlock@edutrav.org

  • It is good to help students, but problem is that many Americans do not possess cross-cultural communication skills. We live in the bad world. I hosted Americans late 1980s before the USSR collapsed. I am Christian and I believe help and love is important. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in America. America has many good people, but there are also ... I was so disappointed I dropped out college. I wasted my money and my time. Colleges want students for income, not for friendship. Stay home:-)
