Great tutorials man! Comprehensive explanations are what i like to hear =P
Fireworks, however, kindly converted a solid gradient of mine into a noise gradient. So I think that the noise gradient is in case you want to avoid compatibility issues, as you can use the Roughness slider to turn noise into solid.

thank you, this helped me get started and the gradient stuff seems extremely unlimited and neat!!! had to learn to do PS for work as I am a traditional painter only and have No experience with graphic software.
