Homeowner called me out in early September saying "my lawn has turned brown over the last few weeks."
When I pulled up, I knew immediately what it was - the ash-gray-flattened turf is a dead giveaway -- GRUBS.
I pulled out my IPhone and shot this vid.

  • do grubs change into anything (like caterpillers do) i seen a few in my yard

  • @chiefthunderhorse1 this year's grub worms will be next year's June bugs/Jap beetles in most cases.

  • how many weeks before did u start to notice the change to the brown color?

  • @tonynjusa you usually notice the damage in the fall time. Just how fast the lawn goes into the dumper depends on how bad the infestation is. This lawn was not a customer of mine so I did not see it prior to this day.

  • how do you completely get rid of them?

  • Looks delicious

  • I put milky spore down in the late spring, and am seeing tons of healthy grubs in my lawn this fall... some are white and unhealthy, but a majority of them are alive and chewing as I pull the grass up like you did in this video. I'm pulling up all the grass, aerating and overseeding in a few days. What would you recommend for the grubs?

  • i turned down my volume and checked for

    scream

  • Your soil looks rich!

  • they are so cute! :)
