Ok to shut you all up... i found several articles on this and they all say there are fewer buttons that exist that you actually control. the traffic walk button gives you the delusion that you are in control to comfort you, but they are all set on computers and timers. all you have to do is google "traffic placebo walk" instead of being too lazy to look it up and just resorting to being ugly about it.

I've seen many times when I didn't push the button and the traffic lights for cars turned red but the pedestrian lights remained as a red hand and then I had to wait for the lights to cycle again and then pushed the button and the light changed... So therefore, it is NOT a placebo. WUT!
