  • ClarkApologetics,

Why in the world would a Baptist be attempting to make Federal Vision followers? Surely you realize how awkward of a fit FV covenant objectivity would be in any credobaptist theology.

How could you say that Piper relies on good works? That is a gross misrepresentation of his nuanced theology of the nature of faith; have you listened to even one of his sermons? And the covenant of works issue is more complicated than you are rhetorically presenting here. Be fair.

  • I'm a Reformed Baptist, but Post-Mil theonomist - so I learn from both Piper and Wilson. It's good to see that Reformed catholicity is coming back. The reformers didn't agree in secondary doctrines, but were united in the essential foundational Truth of Scripture. Networks like Desiring God are a proof that the Reformed faith is not divisive, but unifying, and that God will bring about many blessings in our fowarding of the Gospel to every nation.

  • One hour ago, I finished reading Future Grace (more precisely a dutch translation of this book) and what Piper says about works is that we are saved by faith and faith alone, but works are the evidence of our faith. That is nowhere near what you said. If you really think that Piper said that we are saved by faith and works in Future Grace, you've missed the point of this book.

    Romans 14:23b

"For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin."

  • I have that book on my "want to read" list on a facebook application, and though I'm currently historic pre-mil, I'm definitely open to other views. I love eschatology...it's so complicated and so many people have great things to say about different positions! And I think it's neat that because it takes so much effort to study biblical eschatology, we end up learning a lot of other related but peripheral things that we wouldn't have otherwise. :-)

  • I like Wayne Grudem's chapter on the millenium in his ST; you should check it out! (He's historic pre-mil, too, but does a great overview of the main issues).
