  • What a useful and insightful comment... If you want to discuss the merits of your own beliefs and validate your opinions of a completely subjective form of art, take it to a message board or to Berkley.. If you don't like the music or video, move on to the next.. No cares to hear your negativity. But thanks for letting everyone know what is better than this.. FYI, try listening to this entire composition sometime, maybe you'll understand where they were going with it in this video...

  • It's called "Hymn To Andromeda". I just went to their concert in HK few days ago, the drummer is Brian Blade now. Awesome performance.

  • @egyptianminor do you know that in 80's john mclaughlin used the same synt up to his guitar?

  • the drummer is mr colaiuta

  • the drummer is mr colaiuta

  • @caponsacchi Pat Metheny thinks synths are cool- he even has one hooked up to his guitar! I myself dig both the 'small club scence' and Jazz fusion. Peace, Brother.

  • It's a great band, but what an amazing sax solo: beautiful timbre, sound, tone, haunting lines - eastern modal jazz- but If Joe Pass is your thing, you're watching the wrong video.

  • I saw them last year in Ankara/Turkey, and this song blew our minds off. I remember thinking "How on earth can a human being compose this?!"

It would be just funny to trash such a song.

  • I saw them in London and Garrett's solo on this tune was the highlight of the concert. I'd love to see a really good video of it, although at almost 30 mins it would have to be split over three vids

  • Every video I've seen of the band makes them appear somewhat aimless. Garrett isn't doing much on saxophone, McGlaughlin's legendary technique seems wasted on a few background runs. If this is what I missed by following the small club scene which could afford Cannonball, Stitt, Phil Woods or Ahmad and Monty, I have no regrets. As for guitar, I'm more of a Joe Pass guy, but Metheny puts on better shows than these. And synthesizers are passe.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I went to their show last night at Berklee in Boston and this was the highlight of my night!
