  • Or you can just unplug it and hold the power button in for 10 seconds. You do NOT have to remove the CMOS battery. That has nothing to do with the power supply at all.

  • Not exactly, your power surge screwed up your CMOS settings. You should change the name of the video. If a Power Supply really gets fried you have to replace the burnt out components inside. Ussaully better and easier to buy a new one. Nice to see your effort and I'm glad it worked for you.

    did you make sure to connect all the power cables, not only the big one but there is another little one usually conected near the cpu. is what can i tell you! could a different problem anyhow

  • You're right. This is NOT a "how to fix a powersupply problem" But most customer will say just this, though! I have fixed many computers that come from GeekSquad and local computer repair shops that say the motherboard is fried or the powersupply need replacement.
