"half of what I say is meaningless-- but I say it just to reach you" How many of us have done that exact same thing-- even made fools of ourselves-- to try to reach someone who seems almost unreachable? Beautiful lyric

John Lennon bears his soul naked in this kind of composition. The voice, the lyrics, the melody are haunting and say a lot about Lennon's musical talent and sensibility. Songs like this one and "Oh my Love" are a testament of his sincere artistic depiction of emotions: zero corniness or vain affectaction. That's what made John Lennon so different from everybody else in pop culture, to the point that he helped a lot in defining an era; as much as the 60's can be defined.

it's actually taken from a quote by khalil gibran “Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the other half may reach you”

"Help" is in checking the truth, making "A hard days night" easier to be mindful of the now / present. :D

Thanks for the info, always loved the Beatles music and now the magic of it makes more sense when you realize the lyrics have a hidden messages for the truth of life. That's why it has such a peaceful effect ... you forget everything else. You're in the present. Wonderful !

hey elvis XD!, nobody can dislike the beatles, their melodies are for everyone. maybe the real point is that there are people that thinks that there are bands better than the beatles (something that is debatable). anyway great song, great album.
