Tashi Shopa" is the opening dance of the ancient white mask school of Tibetan opera. People believe the dance can bring good luck to the audience. During the Yogurt Drinking Festival of the Drepung Monastery held in summer in Lhasa once every year, the dance becomes the opening performance. The traditional white mask is made of goat fur. The simple mask symbolizes the image of Tangdong Jiebu, the founder of the Tibetan opera. Dancers wear masks at the top of their heads because they usually give performances in the center of the ground according to traditions and habits and the audience sits on the high place around the ground.
