Defense Drone

The Defense Drone is heavily armored with no exposed weak points. However, if you target the obvious and huge antennas that sprout from its head you can stun the Drone. This allows you a short amount of time to do some damage.

Space jump the shockwave and blast away at the antennas, they are farely easy to hit when the Drone is moving slowly at the begining of the battle. When the Drone's hatch opens either hit with a load of Ice Missiles or go into hypermode (as I did). If you go into hypermode, you will use a lot of your energy tanks and have really low heath at the end, as I did, or you can save your energy and just use missiles.

Each time you open its hatch, the Drone starts to regrown antennas faster and jumps around more. This makes hitting the antennas a challenge, and it only gets worse as the battle progresses. Finally, the room will fog up and the Drone will become more aggressive, hopping around and blasting missiles. (and if you're like me and pay attention to the health bar during a fight, these missiles can do some heavy damage) Shoot the antennas and try to get all three down before they can spring up again. This can be very frustrating because the Drone moves around so much.

After a final blow to the head, the Drone collapses and bursts into power ups. The Chozo Technology (aka Boost Ball) appears in front of you. Snatch it up but before you go into the spinner, stop and scan it, this will be the only time in the game that you can. If you're trying to get a 100% finish, along with this Spinner scan, there are many tricky ones that you could have missed. (The Ball Slot on G.F.S. Olympus and the Elysian Shriekbats at the Construction Bay [right before this battle]) (also, if you didn't know, Skytown was build by your friends, the Chozo)
