Join author and professor of Bible Sir Anthony Buzzard as he explains very concisely the basics of the Abrahamic Faith practiced by Jesus. Unfortunately today most Christians don't concern themselves with the things Jesus actually taught and believed! So in response to that horrible trend, Professor Buzzard and others representing the Abrahamic Faith would like to remind today's Christians and the rest of the world that "JESUS IS STILL A JEW"!

  • To say that Jesus, who is "God's Messiah," is also God Himself introduces an incomprehensible muddle into the NT. God is "the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ" over and over again. He is also called the Son of God. So Jesus is the Son of God, the Father, and he is "our Lord Jesus Christ." There are two lords in Ps. 110:1 and the second lord is not GOD!

That would make two GODS and this is not monotheism. Ps 110:1 is the star witness for the truth about the relationship of God and our Lord Jesus.

  • The early speeches in Acts are delightfully straightforward and a very far cry from the awful complexiites of later Trinitarian ideas about God! For Acts, God is the God of Israel, the Father of Jesus, and that same God resurrected Jesus and then exalted him to the right of the One God. In that position Jesus is the "my lord" of David's psalm-110:1. This prophetic oracle from YHVH is the place to examine the relationship between God and his procreated Son (Luke 1:35; Matt. 1:20). This is easy.

  • John 17:3 is a plain and easy statement from Jesus about the key to eternal life."This is eternal life that they come to know YOU [Father], the Only One who is True God, and Jesus Christ whom You sent." The word only (monos) and true (alethinos) describe the Father. Absolute Godhead is restricted to the Father, as 1300 other times in the NT. This is not a Trinitarian God. Jesus was as Jew and his creed was Jewish and unitarian, and of course the model for those who believe and follow him.

  • If you say "Jesus is God," you are exposing yourself to the charge that you believe in two who are equally God, ie in TWO GODS. This is not the monotheism of Jesus who is our teacher and lord.(Mk. 12:29). "There is one GOD, the Father," Paul said and Jesus described his Father as the "only one who is true God." Jesus is defined as the supremely exalted human lord of Ps. 110:1, the key to the NT. The second lord there is ADONI, my lord. In all 195 occurrences of ADONI, the ref. is never to God.

  • Hebrews 8:1 tells us who it is at the right hand of God. It is the High Priest Jesus, now immortalized. It would be absurd to say that the High Priest IS God! High Priests are mediators between God and man! They are not GOD! V. 6 says precisely that the High Priest Jesus is the mediator between believers and God. That mediator is defined by Paul in I Tim. 2:5 as "the MAN Messiah Jesus." Yes, there is an immortal MAN, Jesus, at the right hand of God. He is coming back to rule on earth.

  • Standard translations of John 1:1-2 invite the reader to believe in two who are GOD and thus in two Gods! "In the beginning was GOD THE SON and GOD THE SON was with GOD THE FATHER." That is how translations present the words of John. However, this turns John into a believer in TWO who are God! The solution is to take the W off the word Word! John did not write "In the beginning was the SON"! He wrote word, ie the purpose, plan and intention of the One God. The word is the word of the One God.

  • The age-old dispute about the Trinity, as to whether it is biblical, can be easily resolved if we take seriously our need to hear and obey the words of Jesus. II Jn.7-9 warns against any failure to obey the teachings of Jesus. If that warning is taken seriously, then ought we not to pay careful attention to Jesus in Mk 12:29? He there commands us to take to heart the proposition that "the Lord God is ONE LORD." -- A command that we believe in the single-Person God of the Jewish heritage.

  • Ps. 110:1 is the star witness Bible verse for proving the relationship of God to Jesus. It is quoted about 23 times in the NT and Jesus used this verse to silence all arguments. It is an oracle of YHVH to 'my lord'. The Hebrew word is ADONI, my lord. ADONI is the title of NON-DEITY in all of its 195 occurrences. It cannot be GOD speaking to GOD. This would be polytheism, not monotheism! ADONI means my lord and is the perfect title for "Our Lord Jesus Christ," who is the Man Messiah (I Tm 2:5).

  • There are paraphrase translations of the Bible which are hugely misleading for the unsuspecting reader. The Living Bible is one which introduces two GODS in Jn. 1:1-2.

"Christ was with God and was God." is the gist of the message the public is offered. This is not the monotheism of Jesus who affirmed the unitary monotheism of his Jewish heritage in Mk. 12:29. The belief of Jesus about GOD is poles apart from the what developed after Bible times, in the Church. But who is aware of this difference?

  • Was Jesus a Christian? It depends on what you mean by Christian. Jesus was of course the founder of the true biblical faith. But could Jesus have affirmed belief in the Triune God of the churches which bear his name today? He could not. He is on record as affirming, as the most important command of all, the proposition that God is one single Lord. In Mark 12:29 Jesus agreed with a Jewish scribe that "the Lord our God is ONE Lord." This is a non-Trinitarian creed. Think deeply about that.
