hello,
what a nice surprise: you can speak Romanian. I am glad you like Sibiu. It's an astonishing little town. happily I can read en français although I am not fully accomplished. I personally think that 'Précis de décomposition' is his best book. I read it in both languages and the Romanian translator did an excellent job. But I do agree with you on the language issue.

Ma bucar sa aud ca Indreptar patimas no se poate fi tradus in alta limba. De fapt, i-am citit in limba francez si am fost dezamagit. Cu toate acestea, mi pare rau sa no poti citi "De l'inconvénient d'être né" in francez, o carte imens, cea pe care preferea Cioran. The french words of this books are just exceptionnals, you cant seperate their powerfullness out of the sens of text : you need both. I'm btw in Romania : I died when I saw the modern Sibu and what remain of Rasinari...

You are wrong.
Emil Cioran is, as I remember, studied in school.
Romanians know who he is.

Mr. Cioran took a dirt nap . He is finally sleeping now.
Greetings from Seattle, USA. We are huge fans! Come visit soon.
thank you - very beautiful. I grew up reading this man's books. love him like a brother, love him like an alter ego. his most beautiful (poetically speaking) books is 'Indreptar patimas'. This is the last work written in Romanian. I realize that no one will be able to translate it in any other language. It is one of the things it makes me think I am blessed speaking Romanian and being born a Romanian.

Thanks a lot. If you're interested in, Jenseits made three records about Cioran...there's something on the Tube. A song called "Sibiu '33" and many others. (It's sure that in many cases you lose something by translating from a language to another. It's one of a lot of beautyful powerful things about Language)
