http://www.pbs.org/thisemotionallife Resilience and emotional well-being are often tested the most during times of an unexpected change in life circumstance or bad news but can also lead to contemplating one's life in a new way. Michele talks about resilience and re-thinking happiness while dealing with ovarian cancer, from THIS EMOTIONAL LIFE (Jan. 4-6, 2010). http://www.pbs.org/thisemotionallife

  • I see you are in pain(That last comment) I know what its like to feel that way and I'm sorry. It doesn't matter how much money you have cancer is a tough battle. This woman would give up every dime to have perfect health. You have to connect and let people know what you are going through. Support groups are important. It takes courage to go through cancer and this woman has what it takes.

  • "Three thousand old women gyrating!" Ha, honey, you'll be old one day, too. I had my only child, a daughter, when I was 40, and now the age difference is really hard. Seriously, I can tell you really love your Mom. This looks like a great series!

  • THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT,

    TO ALL

We, the ones who suffer from PTSD nd DID since childhood end up with more ABUSE, neglet, abandonment and the whole vicious circle of SSI. The more time we spend in treatment the closer we get to be transplanted to "The SYSTEM" I started with good, private insurance, M.D.'s, groups...managed care "supplemented" these and ithappens to the severely affected, supplement becomes SSI. Social Workers, 10 minute-pill-scripts. DARK. ALONE

    END

  • Remarkable.

  • Bah. She obviously has an adequate supply of money (all those wigs! and a house packed with stuff) and lots of emotional support from family, possibly friends. She can afford to buy self-help books, and has the energy to stand in line to get them signed.

I'd like to see her try doing what you're doing on poverty-level wages/SSDI/SSI, with no family, all alone. Let's see how resilient she feels then.

This is not courage. This is living life. Get over yourselves.

  • Support your local PBS station(s). Pledge season is coming up soon. Enjoy the shows. Pledge. Most have online pledging available, or you can call in.
