TCDC MEDIA UPCOMING ARTIST ALERT: RIVAL SUMMERS
WATCH THIS VIDEO FOR YOUR NEW FAVORITE BAND!
It's no secret that the Michigan music scene has produced its share of legends. From the creation of Mowtown, to acts such as Alice Cooper, Kid Rock, Ted Nugent, Eminem, Iggy Pop, ICP, and The White Stripes, there is a reason for calling it Detroit Rock City.
Over the past two years, the local scene has dried up as bands such as Every Avenue, I See Stars, The Swellers, Fireworks, and We Came As Romans graduated to record deals and national tours. One name that hasn't yet found its way out of the mitten state hasn't done so because of a lack of talent, but because he is approaching his senior year of high school.
Meet the first TCDCMEDIA.com featured upcoming artist, Rival Summers.
Starting in May of 2008, Leo Bautista put his childhood of learning classical music to the test as he entered the scene with his acoustic guitar and Dashboard/Scene Aesthetic/Blink/Backstreet Boys influences as he portrayed the alias everyone in Michigan knows, Rival Summers.
After just one year of starting his DIY solo act, Bautista recorded his debut album Ready When You Are with Every Avenue's Mike Govaere and self-released it. You can now purchase the album on iTunes.
Since beginning, Rival Summers has faintly toured the Midwest, and even landed an opening spot on the Detroit stop 2010 Take Action Tour, as well as the 2010 Vans Warped Tour in Detroit. He has shared the stage artists such as, We The Kings, Mayday Parade, A Rocket To The Moon, Rookie Of The Year, We are the In Crowd, Backseat Goodbye, The Color Fred, The Scene Aesthetic, Stephen Jerzak, Automatic Loveletter, and Craig Owens where he created a fun and intimate vibe to warm up the crowd.
Rival Summers is perfect for anyone who enjoys being happy, and listening to solid acoustic jams. His sound is very raw like Dashboard Confessional and would be a great fit for any summer mixtape. If you like Never Shout Never, Backseat Goodbye, or The Scene Aesthetic, you will love Rival Summers.
Recently, he recorded with singer/songwriter/producer Chase Coy and has plans of releasing the songs on an EP by the end of the year.
It is only a matter of time before Rival Summers makes his way to the top.
