Academy Award nominee Gus Van Sant directs Academy Award winner Sean Penn as gay rights icon Harvey Milk. Mr. Milk (1930-1978) was an activist and politician, and the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in America; in 1977, he was voted to the city supervisors board of San Francisco. The following year, both he and the citys mayor George Moscone were shot to death by another city supervisor, Dan White. Mr. Milk was previously the subject of the Academy Award-winning documentary feature The Times of Harvey Milk, but Milk filmed on location in San Francisco is the first non-documentary feature to explore the mans life and career.

  • @hardrinker1989 to be clear I'm just talking about the character in the film, I don't know any thing about the real man so I can't say if he was really like that or not

  • @255ad well said

  • @Hirscae lines in the film like that annoyed me, he doesn't try and come back with a thought though out rebuttal, he just invades the question with a joke

to be honest I got the impression Harvey Milk new very little about the arguments concerning why gay people should be given equal rights, and only really cared about them because he was one..... like some sexual orientation form of blind patriotism

  • @IamAnneMarie And I'm pround of being homophone, because I'm defending God's law.

  • @IamAnneMarie hhhh you surely don't know what homophobe means.

  • @fatizoo1000 You think gay people are gross and that they are destined for hell... No offense, but I'm pretty sure that makes you a homophobe. No one told me about God being loving. I just know it in my soul. He doesn't hate his own children.

  • @IamAnneMarie And who told you about that? And pliz don't call me homophobe again! Because I'm not.

  • @fatizoo1000 I shouldn't be comfortable talking to a homophobe, and yet I am. There are a lot of non-religious people that do great things, and I believe in a loving God, not a vengeful God. He is loving, forgiving, and accepting. He is not hateful, biased, OR homophobic. I hope you realize one day that He loves all of his children, regardless of race, religion, background, or sexuality. Goodbye.
