Well, I certainly do while watching Good Eats!
...Ofcourse, I can say the same for Tony Bourdain's No Reservations, Eric Ripert's Avec Eric, Martin Yan's 'Yan Can Cook', and a whole host of cooking shows that are no longer in production (Julia Child's 'The French Chef' etc., David Rosengarten's 'Taste', Stephen Yan's 'Wok with Yan', Two Fat Ladies, Graham Kerr's shows--including 'Galloping Gourmet', Justin Wilson's various shows, and Mario Batali's shows.)

Odd that they call wood ash acidic in this episode.
Potassium hydroxide solutions (made by filtering water through wood ash) were the traditional lye formulations.
