9 week old Great Dane puppy's first raw diet. Two chicken wings gone in 30 seconds. Yes, that is RuKus the pug in the background. He has been on a raw diet for several weeks now and is doing great. Elsie LOVES her raw food. When given a choice between raw and kibble, there is no question what wins. And boy o boy does it smell "better" when it comes out the other end.

  • I'm just investigating the "Raw food diet" for my dog.... This is a legitimate question , not a sarcastic remark: don't you have to remove the bones from the chicken for them to consume? We had to take my dog to the vet one night because he wolfed down a chicken wing someone had left outside (he's very quick). The vet said that the bones can puncture their stomach lining and it could be very serious??

  • Cooked bones are a problem, raw are not. That is a common question. Check out rawfed or rawlearning ,com and maybe join the yahoo group rawchat or rawfeeding. You will get TONS of information from any of these sources. Once you switch to raw you will never go back! You need about 80% meat, 10% edible bone and about 10% squishy organ and not too much else. Most vets have very little nutrition training and what they do have comes from pet food company textbooks- go figure.

  • My Athena is only 55 days old..... can't wait to see her first RAW diet :).. YOU GOT A NICE DANE .... NOW I WANT TO GET A JET BLACK DANE LIKE YOURS :)

  • Back a long time ago, Danes were originally bred for wild boar hunting. They were big and thick like mastiffs. That has been bred out of many Danes and they are spindly little twigs now.:( but Elsie Corinna looks very pretty and she has a beautiful thick coat. And raw diet for dogs? I've never actually heard of that!:P haha

  • will she eat chicken quarters? or whole raw prey models? please post a video? great doggies!! :D

  • wow! that last wing was GONE... lol

  • what were great danes originally bred for? just curious

  • Hi, I just decided to start with BARF dog food... it is very natural way of feeding dogs. I have 16 weeks old great pyrenees, so I hope I've decided for a good thing, becouse she and her health is very important to me. :)

    Thanks for your videos! Katerina

  • YES! So cool! Try to designate them a blanket it works great, so they can lay down and work on their bones. Very good chewers!
