  • Hi Truecrypt, do you play any of the Scriabin sonatas?

  • Ido, but couple home made recordings I have are extremely poor quality...

  • I own a copy of this programme where Richter played in Carnegie Hall. This was played on April 19th, 1965.

This recording is the best Scriabin 7th in my opinion. Nobody comes close. You don't need technical perfection or inspiration. You need a perfect balance of demonism and divinity. Richter must have had the best of both extremes to give us this GEM!!!!

  • i had an opportunity to hear volodos live in berlin with this piece. it was phantastic, but excuse me, this version of Richter is so different world! it is impossible to compare! if volodos is very good, this here is just genius' words..

  • Indeed, incomparable ( AV-SR...)

I was present at the recital cited of SR in Carnegie ,then catapulted into the other regions stimulated by this divine sonata and fabulous playing.

My favorite Scriabine interpreters: Horowitz, SR and....Mitropolous

  • A very nice recording indeed! Thank you for posting. I'm partial to Ruth Laredo myself (Nonesuch records, 1984). I use to meditate to this music in the '80s!

  • @sagalat Once.

  • this is beyond human capabilities.. chapeau!

  • Inspiring and great!

  • Have you transferred it to the computer? I'd like to hear it.

  • Thanks so much once again! This is indeed the finest version I've ever heard. My favourite alternative at this point, partly because it is so different (much slower), but well thought out and equally as heartfelt, is one by Igor Shukov (neither of his studio recordings, though, a live version from Munich, March 30, 1993).
