173 of 5,490 images captured out the Passenger Side
A ten-day journey covering 3,452 miles through eight states
Beginning in Chicago, 4th of July weekend 2008
A linear, photographic journal along the collected main streets of the west and the places in between. Following the oldest roads cross-country to Los Angeles. Along what Steinbeck called the Mother Road and we call Route 66. Mapped out on trails blazed by Native Americans, Explorers, Settlers and Solders. It became a stage on which Americans acted out their aspirations. To quote Rodger White, Smithsonian Curator in article10 Must See Endangered Cultural Treasures. Take a moment to travel in the footsteps of history and see what this country looks like. Or just let your attention drift as you gaze out the passenger side.
