Someone may have already pointed it our but beam wasn't Shawn Johnson's final event. The floor is always competed last in the event finals, where she earned another silver.

@beffyblb I know, the Olympic order is VT-UB-BB-FX... but in Beijing there were 3 days of event finals. Day 1 was VT and FX (August 17). Day 2 UB (August 18) and Day 3 BB (August 19). So beam was the last event in Beijing and therefore it was Shawn's last chance for a gold medal.

@MrsShazziePepper1996 Yes, the 1980 Olympics in Moscow were boycotted by the US.(And the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles were boycotted by the Soviets.)
