PART ONE OF TEN

'Surf II', full title 'Surf II: The End of the Trilogy', was a 1984 comedy/sci-fi/surf film by Randall M. Badat that has seemed to slip through the cracks of time into an almost perpetual state of obscurity, never to find a DVD release due to the presumably unattainable rights of it's soundtrack. Leave it to some punk teenager like myself to unearth it on VHS and unleash it upon the unsuspecting public via YouTube.

'Surf II' is-...er, that is, *should have been*...popular for it's extremely corny jokes, overload of 1980s slang and pop culture, and complete lack of coherence. You won't believe it's not a Troma film! 'Surf II' features the best of the B-movie stars: Linda Kerridge, (the indescribably awesome) Eddie Deezen, Lyle Waggoner, Eric Stoltz, Cleavon Little, Peter Isacksen, Ruth Buzzi, Carol Wayne, Terry Kiser...

...and Ron Palillo as "Inspector Underwear".

That alone should make you want to see this flick.

Also notable is the film's soundtrack, featuring everything from The Beach Boys to The Ventures, Thomas Dolby to Wall of Voodoo, the Circle Jerks to The Stray Cats. 'Surf II' contains the Oingo Boingo song 'Hold Me Back', which, as far as I can tell, can ONLY be heard in this film (that is, in part one of my upload). Also making an appearance is legendary LA ska/soul band The Untouchables, performing the song "Dancebeat" (in part six).

So sit back, grab some shrimp and a Buzzz Cola, turn off your brain, and enjoy what may possibly be one of the oddest teen comedies that came out of the eighties!

And for more information on 'Surf II', please to visit the WikiPedia article that I also created (yes, I have a lot of time on my hands):

  • re: Part 6/10 around the 4:30 mark, during the beach party. Anyone know what that song/band is called?

  • @thisisbabylon The ones in the black suits? They're The Untouchables, a Mod/ska/soul band from LA who also appeared in 'Repo Man' (and still play shows as of 2010). The song is called "Dancebeat", but I don't think it exists anywhere else outside this movie.

  • Ha ha.. you paid money to see this? Lol. My uncle is in it, he sure has changed since theese days :P

  • Your uncle is Peter Isacksen? Awesome! He's like, the funniest character in the film. Is he still around, still acting, if you don't mind my asking?

  • we should start some type of forum for fans who like these sort of movies and maybe influence indy movie makers to create these type of things over again. the emphasis should be on great storyline, great charactors, lots of nudity, etc.

we should try to get some type of new internet tv/video site to host the movies.

  • You, sir, have done us all a public service by making this available. I'm also one of those idiots who attempted to see it in theaters, but had to settle for late-night cable re-runs. How I WISH this would come on DVD!
