Redwings vs Oostburg

The Redwings shutout the Oostburg Pirates 24-0 in a Lightning Division matchup Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at Gibbsville Community Park in Gibbsville, Wisconsin. The win gives the Redwings a 1-1 record in the Sheboygan Youth Football league.

Matthew Stapel made the first strike for the Redwings on a 69-yard touchdown pass from Jared Govek with about 1:37 left in the first half. Stapel struck again on a 63-yard toss from Govek with 2 seconds left on the clock to end the first half with a 12-0 lead.

After an 18-yard run by Zach Pitsch and a 26-yard pass from Govek to Zachary Kaffine, Pitsch punched it in from the goal line at 5:41 in the third quarter to put the Redwings up 18-0. With 22 seconds left in the game, Blake Posewitz handed off to Spencer Laack, who made a 59-yard dash into the end zone to give the Redwings a 24-0 victory.

Elkhart Lake takes on the Redwings at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23 at South High School in Sheboygan.
