Well done you have amazing skill. What type of fly box do you use to keep all the flys in great shape.

  • Hi 30gills,

Thankyou...The boxes I like to use for my nymphs, wets and some emergers is the C&F design and for my Dries I like to use the Dewitt fly box as they are light, strong and you can see through them as they are crystal clear, much easier to see the flies....

    All the best Davie

  • Hi Davie, I love watching your video clips, there excellent. Just a quick question, what is the wax you use or when can I purchase it? I've the Veniards stuff which is just a hard block.

    Many thanks, D.

  • Hi thedabbler79,

The wax that I'm using is the Veniard one which like you said is hard, just break off a small piece and soften it by holding it under the hot tap until it's soft then work it between your fingers until it's tacky then sit in on the side of your finger ready to use when you need it like I do in the video..Let me know how you get on?

    All the best Davie

  • Nice fly! Have u tryied to burn the dearhair at the back before? insted of tering it? Nice pattern, thats a fly I must try! Thanks!

  • Hi Mrfluefiske,

I haven't tried to burn the deer hair before but I have done this on feathers so I could see this working, but the wife hates me doing this as she doesn't like the smell as I tye in the house...I'm glad you liked the fly...

  • That's the first time I've seen deer hair broken off that way. It looks perfect, I must try it. You think you've seen it all then Davie shows a new trick! Top notch.
