Ernie Stubblefield trying to put his past behind him changes his name to Earl Stafford and is traveling with a laughing gas show. Cloud Marsh tries the gas and gets laughed at by the town. Angry he and his brothers attack Stubblefield/Stafford.

I was told many years ago that Marshall Dillon never sat with his back to the door for fear of an outlaw shooting him in the back. Having watched a good number of

episodes, I have seen him in both the Long Branch and Delmonico's with his back to the outside door.
