@jlevenhagen1 but I still will admit that they seem to be able to perform a very good show. Thank you for showing me this, have a good day.

@jlevenhagen1 Good show, some sets are a bit messy, but that is to be expected. Trumpet soloist was very good. I would give it a solid B, maybe B+ grade (C being average college band, A being top 10ish bands in the country could only accomplish this) much better than competition shows I have watched of other college bands of same athletic program level (BYU, Utah, Fresno State, etc.). It seems like TCU is a good to very good band. I have my own opinions as to what I like to see in a band...

@andyk10013 /watch?v=r1AsVvxDJfM i would guess this is probably a 100 set show, but i think the musicality is the most impressive thing!

@jlevenhagen1But, I do not find it visually appealing for a band to run to a new set in the middle of a show for no reason other than as a transition from one standard set to the next, as it is used here. And btw, my band just performed a one week show with corps inspired music (malaga, el toro caliente) with 40 sets, so don't diss my band as "high school level music performance". Have a nice day.

@jlevenhagen1 I would like evidence of this "150 or so sets" show that you speak of (video of it would be nice). If that be the case that they do a show that contains that many sets for a single show, then my bad. However I highly doubt that their competition show has more than say 50. And I know that scatter drill is used and effectively in the right context (between sets if in step to create "out of nowehere" visual, or out of time at the end of a show for dramatic affect)...

@andyk10013 lol you're in a show band! you have a MAXIMUM of 20 sets in a show marching an 8 to 5 with high school grade music, as opposed to a good competition band with 150 or so sets (like TCU), marching 6 to 5s and 4 to 5s at an oblique, and extremely challenging music... and its called scatter drill ... the cadets, the most professional DCI drum corps do it, its not unprofessional, its visually entertaining (and they only do it once in the whole show anyway so who cares?)

@jlevenhagen1 Well for the record, I would know a good band if it hit me, I am in one (The University of Iowa HMB). ANd the statement "and this wasnt even their show for the year... it was probably something they threw together in a couple of weeks.." shows how little you know of good college bands in this country. My band performs 7 shows a year (one for every home game). They don't sound terrible, I will admit, but it in my opinion is unproffesional, in my opinion to run from set to set.

@andyk10013 You wouldn't know a good band if it bit you in the ass then... especially at 1:24... the musicality was so far beyond the standard high school college marching bands that play forget you and thriller... and this wasnt even their show for the year... it was probably something they threw together in a couple of weeks...
They are not all that good in my personal opinion. Marching bands shouldn't run around on the field during a show. Just my opinion. Neither was Wisconsin's really....
