@TheLeBronJames6Fan I agree. Too quick to jump on Lebron. I researched Bird's 81 champ. series. Here's what I found- game 1 was 18 pts-21 reb. game 2 was 19 pts-21 reb. game 6 was 26 pts -13 reb and a clutch late 4th qtr 3 pointer to ice game & series. The 6 game totals were Maxwell 17.7 pts and 9.5 reb and 2.8 assists. For Bird it was 15.3 pts and 15.3 reb and 7.0 assists. Bird probably could care less but who was more productive? Bird figured Robert Reid out but was robbed of the MVP award.

@Salva46 Yea Magic passed to Worthy with less than 0.5 seconds to go. Really Worthy's fault?

@drbayoms Everybody knows that in 1980 Kareem was the MVP of that series. Yes Magic had a fabulous game 6 (so did Jamal "keith" wilkes) who poured in 38 points. The media got emotional and voted Magic MVP. He really was MVP twice out of 9 finals. So if Bird was MVP twice out of 5 finals how does that make Magic better? Hope you are not getting blocked here - lets have a healthy debate.

@mrho4speed that mistake avoided the 0-2 lead. In that situation, the lakers would have won easily.
-
@Salva46 If I remember correctly, Worthy's turnover only sent the game into overtime. LA didn't lose at that point and Worthy didn't make any costly mistakes but Magic did.

@drbayoms MSU had 4 players that saw an NBA roster, Magic, Greg Kelser, Jay Vincent and Ron Charles. For ISU only Carl Nicks saw the CBA, the rest of the ISU players are selling insurance or managing shoe stores! Not fair to bash Bird in a game where MSU stacked the defense to stop him. Also eastern conf. (all teams head to head) dominated the west EVERY year in the 80's. % are in "basketball abstract". Lakers coasted to finals and had the better team - also had Cooper a "Bird fanatic" on D.

Worthy's turnover in game 2 cost the title, not Magic.

@MerkinMuffly ever herad of lebron? idiot.

MerkinMuffly...You're right about it being easier out West in the 80s. It was also more offensive/fast paced and less physical than the East during that time. However LA was lucky we fell apart after slamming them into the ground in the '86 playoffs or else their Finals appearances would've been reduced, only the Celts stopped. We were the only franchise that stood up to LA out West in the 80s.
Bos won in '86, but I know a lot of Celt fans are pissed they didn't get to beat LA that year. LOL
People who senselessly hate on LeBron for his performance last year show serious lack of knowledge and respect for the game. Larry Bird had BACK TO BACK 8 point games in 1981 finals. Kobe had 2 POINTS in Game 2, and 8 POINTS in Game 5 of the 2000 finals. And there was this performance by Magic Johnson. LeBron haters need to stfu and learn the history of this game.
