  • how do you do lens flares in blender???

  • I used compositing nodes for the lens flares, I did them manually because I dont like the results of the built in glare filter in the compositing-nodes...

  • Idea stealer!!!! Lol xD.

Brilliant work on the video. Makes me wish I had that model when I was rendering my recreation :).

Your animation is perfect as always, although the ship does end up facing just a little too far to the left at the end. But then again, making a 1:1 copy of the movie scene wouldn't be much fun ^^.

One other small thing I'd like to suggest is that you turn down the specular texture just a bit.

  • Hahhah! :P Yep the specular-level is ingredibly bright, i have fixed it but im not sure if im going to upload an updated version because of the ingredibly long rendering times, almost 10 minutes per frame...

  • Awesome ! and the right amount of lens flare too

  • Impressive!

  • @propanealex "JANEWAY: Tom, what's the first thing they teach you about maneuvering at warp?

TOM: "Faster than light, no left or right." When possible, maintain a linear trajectory. Course corrections could fracture the hull." So CAN they maneuver at warp? YES.. SHOULD they maneuver at warp? Paris and Janeway did not think so, but there are few references to 'warp maneuvering' even in TOS, and remember.. this is the alternate timeline Enterprise.. and those nacelles look very sturdy ^_~.

  • Wau... those are some really BIG numbers on the hull O_O Can i ask please what was providing that blinding stream of white light that illuminates the starboard side above and below? At first i thought it was light from the cloud you can see at the edges of the frame but then as it turns away from us (or we fly over the saucer section) there is a narrow stream of white light (0:18) What cosmic flashlight is supposedly making that?

  • you are very talented sir :)

  • Shame on you for having the ship change direction while at warp. You're breaking canon established by that one stupid ep of voyager.

  • Is vthat bthe same 'Madman' that has the very cool website of Franz Joseph ships re-done in Abrams-verse style looks?

Can you guys animate a Saladin-class Destroyer? (Named USS Cochise NCC-530)

    Just wondering.

  • Excellent work

  • fantastic animation, espcecially as it's done in free software, I keep playing with blender, but find it so hard, well done for this, I particularly love the light reflection on the ship

  • @Uuris 10 mins per frame isn't bad. Just let it render overnight! Great work on this shot though! I've been learning a lot about Blender lately and it's really cool to see people like you produce quality work like this with it!
