  • Very nice, Doug! I know how you feel about the way everyone drops a V8 in these cars. I too would rather have an preserved original 4-door sedan than be stuck with another one of those custom jobs with the shaved door handles and whatnot. I guess guys like us were just born in the wrong era.

  • I really feel what you are saying about how the feeling and time was different then. Life was a lot simpler then. I'm a lot like you when it comes to the appreciation of earlier times. I wasn't part of 1960 either. I wasn't born till 1973. Theres just no quality like back then. People took care in what they made. Things were made to be repaired, not bought and thrown away like today. I think you're one of the coolest guys I've seen man. You really look the part too. Keep it all alive!

  • @Gazpacho8 I heard they took the engine out of the '59 for that test.

  • @daw162 What does this have to do with classic cars?

  • @Gazpacho8 Modern cars are also much more reliable than cars in the past were, it used to be a common sight on american highways to see a car by the side of the road every miles with the hood up because the points had crapped out or the carburetor was gummed up.

Don't get me wrong, I love old cars and drive one every day, but they are objectively worse in every way.

  • @christich99 Well, for starters modern cars are massively more efficient, fuel injection overhead cams, variable valve timing, electronic ignition, computerized control of the engine timing and mixture. These all enable the engine to make more power faster using less fuel and taking up less space.

Old cars were death traps, simply look up the recent crash test the IIHS did between a 59 chevy and a 09 chevy. The people in the 59 would have been injured or killed.

  • @Gazpacho8 Why?

  • @christich99 This is a terrible terrible car by modern standards.

  • I wish they would just go back to making to making vehicles exactly like this. Affordable, Safe, Fun to Drive, Awesome Looking and American Made. I was born in 1999. I can not stand all the crap being made today. Steel all the way!! Column Shifters FTW!! Thumbs Up if you agree.

  • Classic column shifter. One day i hope to drive something with one.

  • We need to preserve classic cars like this. You don't see these being built anymore, which is too bad. All the cars are being built in other countries, like Japan, Thailand, Mexico, Vietnam (of all places). So we need to preserve these old cars and take care of them. That's not to say that we shouldn't drive them because we should. We just need to take better care of these vintage cars, maintain them, replace parts as necessary. I love your car videos. Keep up the good work, eh?

  • I've always liked American cars of the 50s through the 80s. What I like about this car is the 6 cyl engine and the 3 sp manual shift transmission.
