  • @JiangxenPeter Love your comment!!

  • @Hachechulo I'd agree with you re "unoriginal" to an extent. There's only so much text allowed in these spaces, so I couldn't explain my points. Nor do I wish to - ie ipso facto, turn these pages into a forum or lecture podium - the latter of which I am capable of. My main point was: "each to his own" - like it or not is to one's tastes, but it is I think a bit unkind to say "Who would want to?" about a work of art that has survived, original or otherwise. Can we leave it at that, please? :-)

  • @JiangxenPeter If you read my comment closely there is nothing “unkind” about it; it merely identifies my listening experience: it identifies the work as derivative and, posits a question about the point of such a project. Note: to begin to talk about this concerto you need to make comparisons: i.e. Wieniawski, Haydn and Mendelssohn. Yet, you fail to mention these works transcend trends of composition of their time, and therefore are original. I never said “valueless,” I said "unoriginal."

  • Again, Thanks for uploading this, HV. And especially for the score. You're making a great contribution to the musical knowledge of the masses.

  • @Hachechulo I think that's a bit unkind. This concerto is quite unique in many ways - like a romantic Haydn but with the technical demands of Paganini. It may be more a creation of the favoured, eg Mendelssohn, than of the adventurous, eg Wieniawski, & though a composer may not "move music on", eg Tailleferre, there's no reason why their music can't be a valuable contribution. It's still good art! Music is for ANY to enjoy, & as Prof Denis Matthews said "Not for our perusal" (or vilification).

  • It's almost like listening to three orchestrated Rode or Dont Caprices. But I can't help but think,"Who would want to?"

  • Сертифицированные Межгалактический! Алексей Федорович Львов - Русский Паганини!
