Actually thats the light gun you are thinking of, the power glove does nothing with the scan lines on the TV, it uses Sonar.

You should try the Sega Activator. It works better, but you have to be pretty precise with moving your hands directly above the sensors. The Activator is fun, but it's pretty hard beating games with it.
