@MKA829 It could NOT have been made to sound like a Hi Fi recording, not with all the "enhancement" in the world. It's more a matter of the character of the recording than anything else. I also own both recordings.

Excellent performance indeed. But it sounds more like the later American Columbia Hi Fi recording conducted by Erich Leinsdorf, not 1936.

Operatically speaking, the basso buffo is the best in Leporello, it seems don Bartolo, don Pasquale, but hearing Kipnis or Reizen (not because they were jewish :)) ) it is the great music, is pure lyric .
If I think theater, Baccaloni is THE Leporello.
