How to entertain a cockatiel for hours

After escaping and being on the run for 6 hours outside earlier this week, I had to figure out a better way of letting my bird get his flying "fix" without actually escaping. Who'd have known it was keeping me cool all this time I surfed the internet. He will sit there for hours, pooping in place, and thinking to himself "This is like flying, but less work". I don't know how old this guy is, he's most likely in his mid 20's. But he sleeps a lot, shrieks a lot, and poops a lot. Your typical bird.
