And because Flanders is economicly superieur to Wallonie, they tend to forget about Wallonie, or want to get rid of them) And the song says that after all we're 1 country. The message is to get along with eachother.

as I read the lyrics, it has two layers in it. The first layer is obviously about a girl who gets out of sight. If you live in Belgium (or know a lot of foreign politics) you recognize the second layer. It is about the two counties in Belgium (Flanders and Wallonie) There's some friction between the two counties (because they speak dutch in Flanders, and french in Wallonie) there's a lot of history of problems between the two counties.
