the Areola Treat - Matter Of Taste/Matter Of Lust

The Areola Treat are a Garage rock band hailing from Malta. They formed in 2006 and are predominantly post punk, incorporating a variety of brash sounds and punchy beats and vocals.

The Areola Treat changed their line up in 2010, replacing Matthew Cuschieri with bassist Steve Shaw, with Chris Busuttil on drums, Adrian Mizzi on guitars and Lisa Micallef-Grimaud on vocals.

The band ethics have gone past simply playing in a garage and playing for their immediate group of friends, onto speaking out on social issues such as ultimate power, morality, greed, and a clear social disinterest.

The band has seen a clear shift between their past work; their EP, and their forthcoming album 'Pleasure Machines', up to their present work. Pertaining to tunes that were perhaps more danceable and owned an element of frivolous, youthful anxiety to them in their first self-entitled ep, the band have clearly taken on a more defining role in addressing social issues in their music later on, and are currently working on adapting and interpreting more varied musical sound structures.
