To my mind, unnecessary to contrast the 1973 and 2000 version. No is possible, other time other actors... The matter the story... Rest in peace, the 1973 Judas, the 2000 Judas is genius singer.

the 1973 version was more inspiring cause there was a figure of a shepard walking and honestly the 2000 one was not that good

Agreed. I especially love the flute solo in the end. The '73 version is particularly poignant for the empty cross in front of the sun.

This is the only part of the musical that makes me cry, no matter what version, or year it was recorded.

The instrumental piece is so moving to me.

at the end of the '73 version, the part where the shephard and his sheep are crossing by the Cross was actually an accident... it had not been part of the script at all. but the filmmakers thought it was such an amazing coincidence that they decided to keep the shot. i think that it is an amazing ending for an amazing film!

Both made me cry.. But the Millenium version, in my opinion is best.

Though their names are not specifically mentioned in the gospels as far as I am aware, tradition has their names as Dismas (the "good thief"), and Gestas (the one who rejected Jesus).
I expect biblical scholars will be able to more accurately answer this one.
