The link is below, to the enhanced Shepherd Scene video. I have included here, both the 2000 and the 1973 versions of "John Nineteen:Forty-One" If you wonder what the verse is about-it refers to the passage in the bible where Jesus is placed in the tomb. Here is the verse from the bible-I included John 19:42 as well. 19:41. Now there was in the place where he was crucified a garden: and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein no man yet had been laid. Erat autem in loco ubi crucifixus est hortus et in horto monumentum novum in quo nondum quisquam positus erat
19:42. There, therefore, because of the parasceve of the Jews, they laid Jesus: because the sepulchre was nigh at hand. Ibi ergo propter parasceven Iudaeorum quia iuxta erat monumentum posuerunt Iesum I started this project as an Easter contribution to YouTube and its viewers.Like in Jesus case, this is not the end but rather the beginning.I hope you have all enjoyed these videos as much as I enjoyed editing and posting them.GB.~Ric~
A final thought about the abscence of a ressurection scene and the appearance of 'the figure' in the final scene. This from an interview and a quote from Ted Neeley:
Moore. Speaking of mystical, it's been said if you look closely at the final shot of the film, you can see a mysterious someone in the desert.
Neeley. "And let me just say: Those who have eyes to see will see that mysterious someone. The reason is that (director) Norman Jewison and myself took issue with the fact that (creators Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber) felt the piece needed to end with a crucifixion, showing no suggestion of possible resurrection and ascension. So when Norman made the film, that mysterious appearance is to suggest that life does go on, that there was resurrection of the spirit."

To my mind, unnecessary to contrast the 1973 and 2000 version. No is possible, other time other actors... The matter the story... Rest in peace, the 1973 Judas, the 2000 Judas is genius singer.
at the end of the '73 version, the part where the shephard and his sheep are crossing by the Cross was actually an accident... it had not been part of the script at all. but the filmmakers thought it was such an amazing coincidence that they decided to keep the shot. i think that it is an amazing ending for an amazing film!
GOD BLESS YOU...Carl Anderson...I hope you are having a wonderful experience singing for the REAL MESSIAH OUR LORD in heaven! We met Ted recently on a tour stop in Springfield MO and I have to admit...what a nice man!
Though their names are not specifically mentioned in the gospels as far as I am aware, tradition has their names as Dismas (the "good thief"), and Gestas (the one who rejected Jesus). I expect biblical scholars will be able to more accurately answer this one. ♫Ric♫
