John Peel:A Punk Tribute/'Can't Rock n Roll'-Puncture

John Ravenscroft,AKA John Peel,holds a special place in the hearts of most fans of alternative/underground music whenever they were born,but the feeling is particularly strong amongst Blank Generation Punks circa 1976-78.Peel championed 'our' music nightly,at a time when no-one else would touch it &,for me at least,his show was often the highlight of the day.Because of his influence,tho i've always had a violently passionate affection for music from 'the old days',i've always kept an ear open for new young bands coming through...a real bonus during the noughties,when there has been so much great guitar-orientated music!Sadly John passed away on October 25th 2004,yet almost 5 years on,his legendary reputation refuses to dim...he remains the only D.J. that ever really mattered.

I wonder if you remember that one with The Skids,when they changed the lyrics to 'TV Stars',to reflect all of Peely's heroes? He was 'our' Dj,always will be eh!

sorry i don't i'm not from the uk and until last year i thought he was only the luckiest sound engineer

in the world for recording all those bands early in their careers (my others excuse is that i was born in 77 )
