If Gromm never detected you while you were in Baenlin's house and you left the house within 20 seconds after killing Baenlin, Gromm will not be hostile. If, however, you were detected during the quest or took more than 20 seconds to get out, Gromm will immediately attack you. If the quest is already over and Gromm dies for any reason (for example, if you attack him in Olav's Tap and Tack), the body will vanish immediately upon his death.

Umm...morons...he dissapears anytime you kill him after Accidents Happen, you can just go in, kill him, and he poofs away, no need for all the extra stuff

Once youv'e killed baenlin you can kill gromm and make him disappear without killing guards (and he usually attacks you you first so you dont get arrested)
